CRAIG DRYDEN  -17 February 2009  I talked with Greg Foreman on Tuesday 17 February. Craig "Birdlegs" Dryden passed away Tuesday morning 17 February 2009. He was a warrior to the end. For me it is a great loss, he was a very good friend. He didn't want any service and was cremated per his wishes. His wife Katie was with him to the end. Birdlegs was one of the best LRRP's to patrol the jungles of Nam. Love ya, Mattie

Subject: Bob Maushardt

It was with great sadness that I received the attached email regarding Bob Maushardt. As I told his son-in-law, Dan Crawford, all E Company Rangers hold "Top" in the highest regard. He served his country with great honor and distinction and I am thankful he was able to join us at our reunion in San Diego. We are all indebted to Bob, Tess and Marshall for making the arrangements to visit Top when he was in the hospital and then for making sure he was able to attend our memorial service and banquet.

Everyone who attended the reunion could see the joy in Top's face as he met with his old Army buddies. He was delighted that a number of us followed him to his favorite casino with its all-you-can-eat buffet. Even though we had just had a big breakfast at the motel, it was worth it to see Top so completely happy as we loaded up our plates with food. The tears in his eyes as Tess presented him with an original hand-carved plaque at the banquet is a memory that will remain with us forever.

We are fortunate to have served with a brave soldier like Bob Maushardt who will now join the ranks of the departed but never forgotten E Company comrades. Top, we salute you.

Bob will be remembered through a memorial donation to the charity of his choice, The Disabled veterans.
